The fourth album from Icelandic gothic trio Kælan Mikla available on beautiful 6-panel digipak! Undir Köldum Norðurljósum is the fourth and most spectacular album from Icelandic gothic trio Kælan Mikla, that once started their recording career on Fabrika (She Past Away, Lebanon Hanover, Selofan…).
The all new album features the highly praised singles "Sólstöður" and “Ósýnileg" (see videos below) and 8 other new songs. The track “Hvítir Sandar” features the French post-rock/shoe- gaze superstars ALCEST (ex-Prophecy, now Nuclear Blast).
Kælan Mikla is a three-piece punk/no-wave band from Reykjavík slowly getting darker and deeper with new waves and more instruments. The band consists of three girls who perform their own poetry and have been described as an avant-garde, fresh breeze into the Icelandic music scene in the past years. The band was formed after winning in a poetry slam held by the city library in January 2013. Kælan Mikla are known for their dark melancholic sound, most of the songs consisting only of heavy bass, drums and screams with some softer, melodic synth parts in-between. The bands lyrics focus on inner confusion and their intimi- dating stage performance, often including performance art of some sort, is bound to leave the crowd in a melancholic trance. A VINYL-edition will be available in early 2022 only.
